Footwear with a sale value up to ₹2,500 a pair pays 5% GST (Schedule I, S.No. 392). Above ₹2,500 a pair it pays 18% (Schedule II, S.No. 202–206). Sports shoes, canvas shoes and several other types need a BIS Standard Mark under the 2024 footwear Quality Control Orders, unless they come from a micro or small unit covered by an exemption or extension.
Candles need no product-specific licence; you need GST registration once you ship to another state. They fall under HSN 3406 at 5% GST (Schedule I, S.No. 253 of Notification 9/2025-CT(R)), and a pre-packed candle must carry the Legal Metrology declarations, including net quantity and MRP.
A home baker with turnover up to ₹1.5 crore needs FSSAI Basic registration (₹100 a year). Cakes, pastries and biscuits (HSN 1905) attract 5% GST from 22 September 2025, down from 18%, and an egg cake must carry the brown non-veg mark.
