Standard pricing is pay-as-you-go. It is 2% for cards issued in India and 3% for cards issued outside India. Standard pricing for India has a 'Request an invite' button, not a direct sign-up. Custom pricing is available for large volumes or unusual business models.
Disputes cost ₹1,000 each. If you counter a dispute manually, that ₹1,000 is refunded only if you win. Smart Disputes take 30% of the disputed amount on disputes you win. Refunds by bank transfer may have a fee, and Stripe does not return the original processing fee on a refund.
Stripe's help centre has a separate plan for Indian businesses that take international card payments. It is 3% per successful charge if most customers are in India, and 4.3% (plus 2% conversion if needed) if most are abroad. Billing costs 0.7% of billing volume, and Invoicing costs 0.4% per paid invoice.
What a sale costs you
Fees below use the domestic credit card rate from the table, plus 18% GST on the fee (the standard GST rate on payment services; Stripe India's page doesn't state the rate). A negotiated rate may be lower.

UPI fees after the 2026 MDR decision
Stripe's India pricing page does not list a UPI rate. It links to a separate local payment methods page instead. The page does not mention the 2026 UPI MDR.
The rule itself: on 15 September 2026 the government approved a 0.4% MDR on UPI payments to merchants above ₹2,000, capped at ₹300 from ₹75,000 up. Payments of ₹2,000 or less stay free, and merchants can't pass the charge to buyers. NPCI said on 13 October 2026 that it starts after Diwali, on a date still to be announced.
What Stripe India is set up for
Stripe is mainly set up for card payments, especially from customers abroad. It publishes separate rates for foreign cards, Amex and non-INR charges. On the same account you get Billing for subscriptions, Invoicing, Radar fraud checks and dispute tools. Connect is available for platforms that pay out to other sellers.
Using Stripe India with Selzix
